Hi All,

I have been doing some online research and have come across some NGOs in Pakistan that seem to be doing interesting projects that ADP might want to fund. This would be in the areas of health and poverty alleviation.

In particular I was attracted by a project on "Skills development for low income people" that an NGO called Sachet is running:

I spoke to Omar about this and thought it would be a good idea to learn more about similar projects that we may want to support.

I am going to get in touch with them and let you know what I learn.

Do you have any thoughts or prior experience with this group?

Hey Maham!

Sounds like they are doing great work. I know of Hawwa which does similar programs in Islamabad. It is headed by Kishwar Naheed.

Here's a brief history of the work Hawwa is doing:

There are also some other NGOs featured in that report that may interest people. The blurbs are short so I encourage you guys to click the link =).

Kishwar Naheed is very helpful and if you have questions for similar training programs for women, she'd be happy to answer them.

Hi Maham,

Any news from Sachet?? It seems like they are involved in many different aspects of social development, someone we would like to partner with.

Hey Maham,

Sachet looks very impressive. Their website communicates that they take a rigorous approach to the work.

Have you heard anything from them? If not, maybe we can see if Mr. Ghaznavi or anyone at LUMS has any experience with them.

I'm curious (maybe concerned) about the association with AQ Khan. It may be a non-issue, but we should ask the right questions, as it might raise issues for ADP with the US authorities...
